I'm thinking about adopting an Australian Shepherd/Chocolate Labrador puppy?

What I want to know is, is he more likely to have long or short hair? I've always owned purebreds before, so I knew what to except in terms of lifespan, hair length, possible ailments. Anyone have any advice?
