Cats and Dogs Living Together?

I am about to adopt two kittens for my rescue pup. What kind of diseases and ailments could they pass back and forth? The kitties will be indoors only but the doggie will be indoor/outdoor. Is it best to have the cats on frontline? What about ear mites? Kennel cough? Anything else? Thanks!
